The Magazine for Ferrari Enthusiasts
Cavallino is the journal of Ferrari history, covering Ferraris old and new for over 40 years. It's the most reliable, most trusted source of everything Ferrari. Ever since the first issue in 1978 Cavallino presents extensive stories and detailed information from knowledgeable experts and enthusiasts who share the passion for Ferrari. All Ferraris are unique, and each one has its own chassis serial number. This is how the Ferrari world keeps track of all the great cars. Cavallino is the only publication that prints the serial number for every Ferrari mentioned in our stories, articles, and race results.

2 | Commento | Our Menu In this issue, we present to you the history of the Berlinetta Boxer, a car which may well become one of the all-time classic, road-going Ferraris. We also present the second half of Stan Nowak's story of 002C, the first Ferrari. |

8 | The First Ferraris - part II Further History of the Two Oldest Ferrari: 002C and 004C Stan Nowak A.F. Loyers, Stan Nowak My own involvement with 002C and 004C began on June 11, 1949 when I first saw Briggs Cunningham's cycle-fendered Spyder Corsa, chassis and engine No. 016I. Although it did not finish that day it lead most of the way and was stopped by a cut oil line. I had no way of knowing it was the first Ferrari to arrive in the U.S. | |

17 | Feature | The Berlinetta Boxer A History and Appreciation Mark Tippetts, David Edgerton, Pininfarina, Ferrari Ever since it was introduced on the Pininfarina stand at the Turin Salon in 1971 as a design study and possible prototype, and later in 1973 at the Paris Salon as a pre-production model, the Ferrari Berlinetta boxer has been classed, without reservation, as one of the great "supercars" of the motoring world. |
35 | Feature | The Three Boxers A Comparism of the Three Main Boxer Models |
36 | Feature | The Boxer in America The Story of How the Boxer Came to These Shores And How the Grey Market Began The story of the Boxer in America is really a story of Yankee ingenuity over the obstinacy of an unenlightened government, and from the beginning, the stage was set with a 'dramatis personae' of truly heroic proportions. Center stage was a new, radical vehicle that truly appealed deep down to the very heart and soul of any honest man. |
39 | Notizie | Quarter Classics Jeron A fair proportion of the Ferrari enthusiasts are Ferrari model enthusiasts, and by that we mean the models you can place on the shelf in your home, not on the floor of your garage. Some of these are little more than trinkets, most are fair reproductions of the many Ferrari types, and a very few come up to the actual standards of design, detail and construction found in the full-scale, real-life examples. |
40 | Notizie | Ferraris on Parade Sidel Tilghman The Ferrari club held its annual meeting at the end of June in Atlanta, and some very interesting vintage and racing Ferraris were on display. |

46 | Corse | Where have we gone wrong? Autosprint Ferrari seems to be entering one of those recurring periods in racing where everything should be going great, but everything turns out wrong. Not seriously wrong, but wrong enough to keep them from winning races. On the surface the season looks disastrous, but in retrospect, it might well be looked upon as a season of retrenchment and recommitment. |
